I’ll be honest; I’m a sucker for a good Arne Duncan quote. This week, a New Orleans news cast visited Secretary Duncan at the White House to ask him his thoughts about the future of education in Louisiana in terms of vouchers, charter schools, and the prospect of a longer school day.

They asked him, “what about those that say one of the things we need to do is extend the school day or extend the school year?”

Secretary Duncan responded: “I absolutely agree, particularly for disadvantaged children. Children in India or China are often going to school 30, 35, 40 extra days a year. They are just working harder.”
