Az_state_sealTime to Succeed Coalition National Director Blair Brown:

“By passing HB 2488 last night, the Arizona House puts the state at the forefront of the movement to expand learning time. We commend Representatives Boyer and Miranda, Chairwoman Goodale, and the bill co-sponsors for their leadership in moving this legislation forward. If passed into law, Arizona will have a comprehensive law, enabling district, charter, and school leaders the autonomy, flexibility, and resources to expand their school year. Students stand to benefit most from the expanded schedule, with more time available for core academics, individualized instruction, and enrichment opportunities, such as music, arts, technology, and physical activity.”

“More than 1,000 schools across the country are already offering their students more time and opportunities through expanded learning time, including the Balsz Elementary School District #31 in Phoenix, which has seen impressive gains in the three years since the district implemented the 200-day calendar.”
