The Eli and Edythe Broad Foundation – a TSC supporter – released a report today detailing the best practices behind the 2012 Broad Prize for Public Charter School winner. The report details how YES Prep Public Schools in Houston, TX, has been able to serve high-poverty, high-minority student populations and achieve 100 percent college acceptance rate for their high school seniors since its inception in 1998.

Today Mathematica Policy Research issued an evaluation of KIPP middle schools. The study found that KIPP middle schools have significant and substantial positive impacts on student achievement in four core academic subjects: reading, math, science, and social studies. Mike Feinberg, co founder of KIPP and TSC Signatory wrote a guest blog for EdWeek providing some background on the report and outlining the key findings.

Students attending a cluster of Los Angeles schools overseen by the charter operator Green Dot, significantly increased their test scores and persistence in school, and took more challenging courses than comparable peers, a newly released study found.
